Google Drive integration

What the integration does

COORDINATOR is a coordination workspace with an AI layer that reads across the systems you connect. Connecting Google Drive lets you bring documents into that workspace — a training program, a plan, a spreadsheet of results — so COORDINATOR can work from the real thing instead of a description of it.

Once connected, COORDINATOR can:

• Let you attach a Drive file to a conversation from the paperclip menu.
• Read a Google Doc you point it at.
• Read a range from a Google Sheet you point it at.
• Export a workspace document back to Drive as a new Doc or Sheet, when you choose to.

COORDINATOR cannot see your whole Drive

This is the most important thing to understand, and it's a deliberate design choice.

We request Google's per-file permission (drive.file) rather than full Drive access. Under that permission, Google only ever exposes to COORDINATOR:

• Files you specifically choose through Google's own file picker, and
• Files COORDINATOR itself created in your Drive (an export it made for you).

Everything else in your Drive is invisible to us. We cannot browse it, search it, or list it. If you have never picked a file, COORDINATOR sees nothing at all — even though it's connected.

The picker that appears when you attach a file is Google's, running in your browser. Your choice there is what grants access to that one file.

Why we did it this way

Full Drive access would require us to hold a permission that can read every document you own. The narrower permission means the blast radius of our integration is exactly the files you handed over, and nothing more. It also keeps us out of Google's sensitive-scope review process, which exists precisely because broad Drive access is risky.

What data we receive

The contents and metadata of the files you pick or that we created — plus your email address and basic profile, which Google includes so we can show you which account is connected. We do not receive your Google password.

Drive data is used to provide the features above, for you. We do not sell it, we do not share it with other COORDINATOR users, and we do not use it to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for the full terms.

Connecting is opt-in

Nothing is connected by default, and COORDINATOR receives no Drive data until you explicitly authorize it — and then only for files you pick. You opt in when you want it, you can opt out at any time, and you can reconnect later without penalty.

There's no limit on app connections. Connecting Drive doesn't count against anything on your plan.

How to connect

1. Sign in to COORDINATOR.
2. Go to Settings → Integrations.
3. Find Google Drive under Apps & data sources and select Connect.
4. You'll be sent to Google to choose an account and review what's being requested.
5. Google returns you to COORDINATOR and the card shows as connected, with the Google account's email underneath so you can confirm you linked the right one.

Using it

To attach a file to a chat, open the paperclip menu in the composer, choose Google Drive, and pick a file. It's imported into the conversation as an attachment.

To have the AI read a document, ask — for example, "read my marathon plan doc and tell me what week four looks like". It can read Docs and Sheets you've given it access to. For a spreadsheet you can ask about a specific range; by default it reads the first sheet's used area.

To export a workspace document to Drive, use the export action on that document and choose Google. COORDINATOR creates a new Doc or Sheet in your Drive. It does not modify an existing file, and it never overwrites anything.

How to disconnect

You can disconnect at any time, for any reason, without contacting us.

1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
2. On the Google Drive card, open the menu, select Disconnect, and confirm.

Google Drive disconnects more thoroughly than our other app integrations. When you disconnect, COORDINATOR:

• Deletes the stored tokens.
• Revokes our access with Google directly, so the authorization is genuinely gone rather than just forgotten on our side.
• Deletes every file you imported from Drive into COORDINATOR — both the stored file and its record.

That last point is worth reading twice: imported Drive files are removed from COORDINATOR when you disconnect. If you want to keep something, export or re-save it elsewhere first. Files in your actual Google Drive are untouched — including anything COORDINATOR exported there, which is yours to keep.

The revocation and cleanup run in the background, so the card updates immediately while the tidy-up completes behind it.

You can also revoke access from your Google account's permissions page. Revoking there stops our access the same way.

Common issues

The file picker doesn't show a file I own

The picker is Google's and shows your Drive as Google sees it. If a file is missing there, check you're signed in to the right Google account — the one shown on the integration card is the one we're connected to. Files in a shared drive or shared with you may appear under a different tab in the picker.

COORDINATOR says it can't find a document I know exists

It can only open files you've handed over through the picker, or that it created. Knowing a file's name or URL isn't enough. Attach it once through the picker and it becomes readable.

"Access expired — reconnect to keep it working"

Google is no longer accepting our access, usually because it was revoked in your Google account, your password changed, or the grant expired. Disconnect and connect again.

An exported document looks different in Drive

Export converts a workspace document into Google's format, and complex layout doesn't always survive exactly. The exported file is a normal Doc or Sheet afterwards — edit it in Drive as you like. Editing it there doesn't change the original in COORDINATOR; they're separate copies from that point.

Never send us your Google password — we will never ask for it.
